Winter Garden

December 22, 2009

We had a couple snow days in the area to welcome winter in the two weeks leading up to Christmas.

The first snow at first was like a light dusting. Then, it turned wet.

The second snow was heavy. And there was a deep icy layer of snow coating everything, and the hens were not impressed! They wouldn’t leave the small cleared dry spot underneath their henhouse.

The broccoli plants.

The baby purple kale, not only packed in snow but pierced by the pine straws.

And the tiny baby brussel sprout plant, with her sad eaten up leaves. All the plants were too small and premature for harvesting. I must have planted them too late in the season.
