Amsterdam greeted us with consistently grey skies, and neither much rain nor sunshine throughout the time we were there. The days weren’t too cold or windy, and the diffused light painted the city peaceful.

We enjoyed going into the corner grocery store. We found such interesting items on the shelves and mostly would wind up with some packaged novelties, Parma ham & baguettes. Which made for tasty and simple meals.

We did stop one night on the way back to our apartment on Beulingstraat at the Casa di David, an  Italian restaurant with a wood fired oven. We both had pizza; F. had a pizza with extremely thin sliced beef tenderloin on the top. It was very interesting; the steak stays very rare and tender like a Carpaccio.

We both remarked how peaceful a city Amsterdam was. It seemed like the lack of traffic, due to a national preference for bikes, and the interspersed canals muffled the noise of the city.  And they made for pretty views.

One morning we went to the Keukenhof Gardens outside of Amsterdam. The grounds are expansive, and there were even fun amusements dispersed throughout the park like a zip line, maze, pet zoo among other things. The flowers were of course the highlight.IMG_2247

Your photo work is fantastic—Wish so much I could see the bloomers in real form. I don’t think my orchids will ever be as beautiful as the ones you have pictures. Keep up the good work…..
